12 Ways To Use WD-40 Around The Home

by

My dad was a mechanic, so the one thing he always had in his garage was WD-40. We also had recreational vehicles — my dad loved his ATVs and snowmobiles. He would spray all the gizmos and gadgets on them with WD-40. I was thinking about this the other day and also about how I never buy WD-40, but I remember my dad constantly using it. I did a little research, and it turns out you can use this stuff in the home, not just the garage. Take a look at this list and then share it with your friends! They might like to know this stuff, too!

1. The most common use for WD-40 is to use it to stop hinges from being squeaky.

Just put a little bit on the hinges until the door is silent! No need to replace the hinges or the entire door, but let's talk about the unknown stuff. The stuff that you didn't know you could do with WD-40!

2. Remove crayon from the walls.

When your little one has gone all Picasso on your walls, use WD-40 to clean it off. Put a bit of WD-40 on a rag and, with a little bit of elbow grease, the crayon will come right off.

3. Sticker residue is the worst.

The absolute worst! Rub the WD-40 onto the spot until the stickiness fades away.

4. If you have glass shower doors, you must know the struggle of keeping them free of water spots.

An easy solution for this is WD-40. Spray your glass doors with WD-40 and then wipe clean. This will create a barrier so that residues won't build up.

5. Remove stuck rings.

Spray WD-40 around the stuck ring and it should easily slide off.

6. Remove stubborn coffee and tea stains from your countertops

Spray a little WD-40 on a sponge or damp cloth and wipe the stain away.

7. A pair of scissors that jam or are hard to operate can totally ruin your projects or crafts.

Keep scissors working smoothly by greasing the hinges with WD-40

8. Prevent snow buildup on windows.

Spray WD-40 on your car windows before the winter hits. The snow won’t stick, which means less scraping for you!

9. Easily clean off chewing gum from your shoes.

Spray WD-40 directly on the gum, allow it to set for a few minutes, then pull it right off.

10. Waterproof your shoes

Not only does WD-40 create a waterproof barrier on shoes, it will also help remove any salt stains on boots during the winter months. Just spray onto the stains and wipe with a clean rag.

11. Clean your toilet

Spray your toilet bowl for a couple of seconds with WD-40, the solvents in this stuff will help dissolve any gunk or grime in your toilet. Use a toilet brush to help scrub away the grime.

12. Remove scuff marks

Get rid of scuff marks by using a few drops of WD-40 on a rag. Just rub the scuff marks with the cloth until they’re gone. It is that easy!

See Which Movie Was The Most Popular The Year You Were Born

by

Movies do an incredible job at bringing people together, creating memories, and providing entertainment for generations of people. Over the years, we've been able to see which movies absolutely rock it at the box office, and are named the top movies of the year (based on ticket sales). We decided to put together a list of the top movies for each year, and it's pretty cool to look back and see what everybody was watching when you were young. Starting with all those kiddos born in 2016, get ready for a trip down memory lane!

2016: Finding Dory.

Not surprisingly, this movie was the best of this year. It had a budget of $200 million and ended up bringing in $1.027 billion. Yes, BILLION.

2015: Star Wars Ep. VII: The Force Awakens.

The hype was REAL for this movie, and it definitely lived up to its really high standards!

2014: American Sniper.

Bradley Cooper really stepped out of his comfort zone for this one, and it paid off. This heart-wrenching movie definitely deserved the best movie of the year title.

2013: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

With a series this popular, it's no surprise that it earned a top spot for 2013.

2012: The Avengers.

You'll quickly notice that superhero movies tend to do really well at the box office, making this movie a pretty obvious choice for 2012.

2011: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.

Seeing as this was the final movie for the Harry Potter franchise, we're happy that it was such a success. Even if we do miss them all terribly.

2010: Toy Story 3.

The entire Toy Story franchise is insanely popular and always gets astounding reviews. Plus this one made me cry like a baby, so it deserves this.

2009: Avatar.

Director James Cameron delayed this movie for years because he wasn't impressed with the technology for special effects available at the time. Clearly, it was worth the wait.

2008: The Dark Knight.

Another superhero movie that slayed the box office. No surprise there. Plus everybody was really excited to see Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker.

2007: Spider-Man 3.

Ticket sales for this movie were six times higher than the second movie in the series, and many theatres had to add 3am showings to accommodate everybody who wanted to see the movie.

2006: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Johnny Depp, duh.

2005: Star Wars Ep. III: Revenge of the Sith.

You can pretty much count on any of the Star Wars movies doing better than any other movie that year.

2004: Shrek 2.

In my opinion, every Shrek movie should have made the list.

2003: Finding Nemo.

This movie is perfect. It even beat out The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, what does that tell you?

2002: Spider-Man.

People are all suckers for a good upside-down kiss in the rain.

2001: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

This was all anyone would talk about, and still is.

2000: How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

The fact that a Christmas movie was the most popular movie of the year says a lot about how amazing it was.

1999: Star Wars Ep. I: The Phantom Menace.

Need I say more?

1998: Saving Private Ryan.

This movie is noted for being graphically accurate in depicting war and was universally acclaimed. If you haven't seen this movie, do yourself a favor and get on that.

1997: Titanic.

This is seriously a classic. It earned $1.84 billion in the box office and became the first movie in history to reach that billion dollar mark.

1996: Independence Day.

This movie was actually only out on limited release, but due to the high demand, became widely available to audiences who praised its visual effects.

1995: Toy Story.

Probably one of the best works to ever come from Disney/Pixar. You can't go wrong with a Tim Allen and Tom Hanks combo.

1994: The Lion King.

We know how amazing this story is, but let's just take a second and talk about the soundtrack. More than 20 years later and every song is still ingrained in my brain.

1993: Jurassic Park.

The special effects for this movie were incredible for its time, it's no shocker that this movie did so well.

1992: Aladdin.

Disney was seriously on fire in the '90s.

1991: Beauty and the Beast.

Time will tell if the remake coming out in 2017 will be the movie of the year or not.

1990: Home Alone.

Another Christmas movie doing better than every other movie that year (and still remaining a holiday classic) is really impressive.
