11 Facts About Netflix's Latest Hit, 'The Crown'

Netflix has yet to disappoint me with their original shows! I'm obsessed with House of Cards,Orange is the New Black, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and BoJack Horseman. So when I heard Netflix was going to release a show about the royal family, I lost it. It's all about Queen Elizabeth II, her marriage to Prince Philip and her early reign. If you find yourself wanting to read everything you can about Prince William and Kate Middleton, then this show is for you! Here's everything you need to know about the show that everyone is binge-watching!

1. The Crown is the second most expensive show that Netflix has made. The whole show cost about $100 million to produce!

2. Matt Smith's luscious blonde hair wasn't real! He wore a hair piece instead of dying it blonde and the wig had to be adjusted every scene.

3. To play Winston Churchill, John Lithgow had to work with a dialect coach to work on his British accent. To practice, John would stuff cotton in his nose to capture how nasally Winston sounded.

4. The writer behind the show, Peter Morgan, said that the royal family are aware of the show's existence and said they were nervous about it: "There is a sense that they are both very, very nervous and very, very excited."

5. When Matt was playing the Doctor in Doctor Who, he once was an adviser to Winston Chuchill!

6. Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby are exactly four years apart. That's the same age difference between the characters they play! Queen Elizabeth II was four years older than Princess Margaret.

7. The show hired Major David Rankin-Hunt, a specialist on the royal family! He was on set to make sure that the writers accurately portrayed court life.

8. Victoria Hamilton, who plays the Queen Mother actually played Queen Victoria in Victoria & Albert

9. In the scenes where the the door to 10 Downing Street is visible, it was built to be larger than scale so that actor John Lithgow wouldn't look taller than his character Winston Churchill. John is 6'4" and Winston was around 5'6" tall!

10. At one point, Felicity Jones from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Theory of Everything was attached to star as Queen Elizabeth II. She participated in an early table read of the script back in 2014.

11. If you loved the first season, don't worry! Netflix already said yes to Season 2. The creator of the show also said that he envisions the show to have six seasons!
