Located in the Gu Guanyin Buddhist temple in the Zhongnan mountain region of China, there is a beautiful 1,400-year-old tree that sheds its golden leaves in a magnificent display every year. 

A Unique Tourist Attraction

Each spring, this ginkgo tree, also known as a maidenhair tree, grows a stunning, vibrant collection of leaves and is a major attraction for tourists, especially when they fall. 

Planted During The Tang Dynasty

It is believed this particular tree was planted for Emperor Li Shimin, founder of the Tang Dynasty. 

Native To China

If you wish to see this, or any type of ginkgo tree for that matter, you'll have to travel to China, as they are restricted to that part of the world.

Beautiful And Useful

Along with their beauty, the leaves of the ginkgo tree have also been used in traditional Eastern medicine for centuries.
