Think way back to your awkward middle school days where your fashion choices were simply garbage. You thought you were being cool and original with your fashion but you were wrong. We all were. Just be grateful that there are limited photos of your outfit choices. Now imagine being famous and constantly photographed while going through that time in your life. Your worst nightmare, right? Sasha and Malia Obama went through it when their dad became president, but they came out shining on the other side and are giving us all some serious fashion goals today.
These two were definitely the cutest kids even before they made it to The White House in 2004. I'm just trying to figure out what exactly is on Malia's dress.
Still rocking the tights, the girls looked very festive the night their dad was elected as President of the United States.
They were definitely all about the dresses and bright colors. We can't help but wonder who exactly picked these outfits out, but they did a great job – they're adorable!
Even their coats were pretty and bold, and they rocked it. We're all about Sasha's pink and orange ensemble.
Of course, they can't (and shouldn't) dress fancy all the time – they're kids after all! Their casual wear is pretty much the definition of mid-2000s fashion.
But seriously, if these kids are going to be remembered for anything, it's their love for colorful outfits.

These girls definitely didn't sign up to be fashion icons when their father was elected, but they still did a good job at presenting themselves at formal events as they grew older.
If you look closely, you can see the exact moment that they started really paying attention to what's in style, and they didn't do a bad job!
Of course, we need to give them another nod to their fabulous coat choices for their dad's second inauguration.
Before our eyes, the girls were suddenly teenagers, and were experimenting more and more with their wardrobes and it was amazing.
I just wanted to take a moment to praise both of these sweaters. I need them in my life.
Their summer fashion choices are also literally perfect.
